FAQ
My dog is tied outside/tethered. Can you help with a kennel?
We try to help dogs in nearby counties. However, there is a waitlist. We are a small group with few volunteers and limited funds, so it may be quite a while before we can help. We also do not help breeders and or families that are planning to have puppies. We would like you to have you pet spayed or neutered before we install a kennel. We can help with spay/neuter.

I found a stray cat or dog. What do I do?
Dogs Deserve Better Piedmont cannot help with a pet that you found. Contact animal control and they will post that the dog is found. There are also many lost and found sites online. Remember this may be someone’s lost pet and there are laws about stray pets. You cannot just keep a pet you found. Do you help with cats? We prioritize helping dogs; however, we do help cats with spay and neuter. If possible, we also try to help if a cat is sick or injured.
How can I help?
Volunteer, donate, hold a neighborhood supply/donation drive, share our social media page, spread the word about our nonprofit. The only way we can help community dogs and cats, is if we have funds and volunteers. Every bit of help we receive is greatly appreciated and so needed.
Where do you get your funding?
We rely on donations, fundraisers, and grants. Funds are not guaranteed, and providing help to community pets is limited by the funds available, and what they are earmarked for.
Why does my dog or cat need to be spayed/neutered?
There are many reasons to spay/neuter your pet. It prevents accidental pregnancies. There are already too many dogs and cats being born and not enough homes for all. This leads to dogs and cats going to the shelter and being euthanized. And it is critical for the health of the pet. Females that are not spay often develop mammary tumors (cancer) and deadly pyometra. Males that are not neutered often develop cancer, prostate disease, and are more aggressive. Talk to your vet to learn more.
